The only professionals that can determine if you are able to breathe nasally consistently are ENTs and Allergists. Therefore, a referral to an ENT and Allergist is imperative.<\/p>\n<p>Since nasal airway problems are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>primary<\/strong><\/span> cause of an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMD), it is important to be evaluated by an ENT to rule out nasal structural obstructions such as enlarged tonsils and adenoids and an Allergist to rule out environmental airborne allergens.<\/p>\n<p>Nasal airway problems are the CAUSE and the Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMD), dental malocclusion\u00a0 and articulation (speech) disorders are the RESULT.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I never initiate OMT until the CAUSE is addressed and treated. To concentrate on the EFFECT and to ignore the CAUSE is setting the patient up for failure.
